چکیده

Shape retrieval and shape-based object recognition are closely related problems; however, they have di2erent task contexts, performance criteria, and database characteristics. In previous work, we proposed a method for similarity-based 2-D shape retrieval using scale-space part decompositions, part-frequency distributions, and structural indexing. In this paper, we evaluate the use of that shape retrieval method as the hypothesis generation component of silhouette-based 3-D object recognition systems, using a performance criterion and test database appropriate for the new application. ? 2002 Pattern Recognition Society. A Novel Approach on Silhouette Based Human Motion Analysis for Gait Recognition

This paper presents a novel view independent approach on silhouette based human motion analysis for gait recognition applications. Spatio-temporal 1-D signals based on the differences between the outer of binarized silhouette of a motion object and a bounding box placed around silhouette are chosen as the basic image features called the distance vectors. The distance vectors are extracted using...

Urban Vegetation Recognition Based on the Decision Level Fusion of Hyperspectral and Lidar Data

Introduction: Information about vegetation cover and their health has always been interesting to ecologists due to its importance in terms of habitat, energy production and other important characteristics of plants on the earth planet. Nowadays, developments in remote sensing technologies caused more remotely sensed data accessible to researchers. The combination of these data improves the obje...

Geometry-Based Automatic Object Localization and 3-D Pose Detection

Given the image of a real-world scene and a polygonal 3-D model of a depicted object, its apparent size, image coordinates, and 3-D orientation are autonomously detected. Based on matching silhouette outline to edges in the image, an extensive search in parameter space converges to the best-matching set of parameter values. Apparent object size may a-priori be unknown, and no initial search par...

Application of Combined Local Object Based Features and Cluster Fusion for the Behaviors Recognition and Detection of Abnormal Behaviors

In this paper, we propose a novel framework for behaviors recognition and detection of certain types of abnormal behaviors, capable of achieving high detection rates on a variety of real-life scenes. The new proposed approach here is a combination of the location based methods and the object based ones. First, a novel approach is formulated to use optical flow and binary motion video as the loc...

Automatic Selection of Optimal Views in Multi-view Object Recognition

A shape-based method for multi-view 3-D object representation and recognition is introduced and explored in this paper. 3-D objects are recognised by a small number of images taken from different views. The paper addresses the issue of automatic selection of the best and the optimum number of views for each object. The object boundary of each view is considered as a 2-D shape and is represented...
